Hellllllllooooooo Everybody,
It is me, your fearless commissioner, and just in case you forgot, the 2022 BOIS FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE CHAMPION here.
We have now entered August and the dog days of NFL training camp, which can only mean 1 thing…. FANTASY FOOTBALL SEASON IS UPON US! I am super excited to be entering year 3 of our league and cannot wait to continue my dynasty as the rest of you try to improve your football acumen. It seems like just yesterday Alex was a free win and Joe/Seth didn’t know what the waiver wire was. But thank the Lord (respectfully) that at this point we have 8 valid fantasy players along with one Allen and one Luke. Honestly not too bad if you ask me. This season promises to be a competitive onewith me (obviously) ready to defend the crown, Andrew being a perennial championship quality player, and guys like Cam and the Matts trying to get over the hump. Thanks to the value of keepers, everyone (hypothetically but not realistically) has a chance to NOT be bad this year. All of that to say I am very excited and I hope you guys are as well.
There is a lot of info for me to go over here, so set aside a few minutes (probably closer to an hour if your name is Seth) to read through all of it. ALSO, before you text me a question that I have already answered in this newsletter, maybe come back and check it first.
- The draft order is now more important than ever as we transition into year 3 of our keeper league. The difference between picking 2nd and 8th could play a huge part in deciding who you’re going to keep, so the draft order will be coming out next week. It will be the same process as last year: Completely random and I will send the video of the randomization website when I do it. The draft process itself will be the exact same as the past 2 years. 90 seconds, snake, 16 picks each, etc.
- This brings up the next important evolution of the league. TRADING DRAFT PICKS. Now that we have fully transitioned into a keeper league, trading draft picks in the offseason is now available. What this means is that you can trade players and picks up until the day before the draft. You can only trade picks for the upcoming draft that year, so future draft picks are not allowed to be traded. Trading draft picks during the season is NOT allowed as of this year, but we can talk about adding it next year. The draft picks that are traded must always equal the draft picks being received. For example: If Seth wanted to trade his 3rd and 4th-round picks for Patrick Mahomes straight up I would have to give him 2 draft picks back (so the total picks even out), so I would give him my 15th and 16th-round picks. Every owner in the league must make 16 draft selections on draft night. Now this trading draft picks thing sounds exciting, but I would imagine it will not happen very often since we are only doing 2 keepers. However, the idea of trading a pick to move up is pretty fun in my opinion.
- A reminder on keepers: The picks you forfeit will be based on the round that the player was drafted in. For example, if you drafted someone in the 7th round and want to keep them, it will count as your draft pick for that round minus one, so the 6th round in this example. Previous keepers from the season before are automatically your 1st and 2nd round picks. Players that went undrafted count as a 10th-round pick. Even if you picked them up as a free agent they still count as the round they were drafted in. You do not have to use both of your keeper slots if you do not want to. The deadline to submit keepers will be Wednesday, August 23rd at 8:30PM.
- The draft itself will be tentatively scheduled (will verify closer to the date) for Wednesday, August 30th at 8:30 PM. I expect to see everyone but Cam/Allen (Callen) there. Dressing up Matt S. (who finished last)for dinner will be on the agenda beforehand.
- Punishment for next year will be determined before the draft. I did see this gold when I was reading old messages though if we need some ideas:
6. Buy-in this year will be 20$ a person
1st place will get 140$
2nd place will get 40$
3rd place will get 20$
Everyone else gets nothing
